Ashburton Aloe SPRING Festival

4th & 5th of September 2021

Enjoy a wonderful line up of talks, walks & activities, and help the Lower Mpushini Valley raise funds for conservation. 

All FUNDS will be donated to the conservation of the Lower Mpushini Valley, including game guard, anti-poaching, animal feed, river care and alien invasive weed eradication.

The Waterhole

Come and enjoy a great meal on our beautiful deck overlooking the valley and stunning landscapes. Meals will be served from 11h30.

Our famous pub, “The Waterhole”, will be open all day. Cocktails will also be available to enjoy with our beautiful sunsets.

Bird Watching

We have a wide range of bird species all over the property. Sunbirds are out in numbers this time of the year when most of the aloes are in full bloom. This is a true paradise for artists & photographers!

Raptor Talk

Raptor conservation “past, present & future” a talk by Ben Hoffman from the African Raptor Centre. (Saturday 15h30) Don’t miss this opportunity!

The African Raptor Centre strives for the preservation of indigenous raptors through creative education, scientific rehabilitation, conservation breeding and practical research. It is also the home of the African Bird of Prey Sanctuary. The sanctuary is a specialist bird of prey rehabilitation unit for treating orphaned, sick, or injured raptors throughout KwaZulu-Natal. It boasts dedicated hospital facilities to give the birds the best chance of recovery so that they can be released back into the wild.

Game Viewing

Animals are fed every day at around 15h00. Visitors have the opportunity to view the animals closely while the owner feeds the Nyalas and Impalas. Other wild animals that walk around the premises includes zebra, kudu and velvet monkeys.

Animal feed will be on sale at R10 per cup, for visitors to interact with the animals.

Snake Talk

“Understanding Snakes”, a talk and demonstration with well-known snake catchers Nick Evans & Pieter Potgieter. (Sunday 14h00)
